Abstract

Antibiotic resistance is most challenging issues in 21 st century. Therefore, WHO released a categorization of antibiotics into Access, Watch and Reserve (AWaRe) groups in order to optimize the use of the Access group into minimum 60%. The objective of this study is to determine the profile of antibiotic prescription at community pharmacies in Sleman Regency, during the period of 2019 - 2022 according to AWaRe. A cross-sectional survey was designed to collect the data on antibiotic prescription from 10 community pharmacies in Sleman. The quantity of prescribed antibiotics were analysed quantitatively using ATC/DDD methodology, and then classified based AWaRe classification. This study found 10-13 antibiotic agents in the Access group (52% - 62%) and the percentage of Access in DDD was 52.38% and 61.90% by WHO and MoHRI AWaRe classification, respectively.
